Arlene Katherine Wagner

June 21, 1933 — March 13, 2013

Arlene Katherine Mickelsen Wagner, 79, of Grand Island, residing at Wood River Good Samaritan Village, passed away on 3-13-2013 peacefully while doing one of her favorite things (taking a nap). Services will be at 10:30 am on Monday, March 18, 2013 at Apfel Funeral home with Rev. Sylvia Karlsson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Dannebrog where she will spend eternity with Alvin. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 pm on Sunday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Arlene was born in Dannebrog June 21st 1933 to Annie and Clarence Mickelsen. She graduated high school in 1952 from Dannebrog. She attended school in Lincoln where she met, and after a short engagement, married Alvin Wagner on December 25th 1956. Arlene and Alvin were blessed with 3 children, Steven, Paul and Katherine. They lived in many different communities including San Diego, Tucson, Phoenix and Denver. They settled in Grand Island in 1970 where they spent the remainder of their life. Arlene was the co-owner of the Treasure Chest Furniture Store for 14 years and then the owner and operator of A &A Books and Bargains for 6 years. Arlene is survived by Steven and Annette Wagner of Glendale Arizona, Paul and Ronda Wagner of Grand Island, Katherine and James Robbie of Littleton Colorado, 3 grand children Stephanie and Jason Keezer, Rachelle and Jeremy Suchanek, and Branden and Gretchen Wagner and 3 great grand children Jocelyn and Noah Suchanek and Jytt Wagner, her Sister Alice Mickelsen of Grand Island, Gaylord and Judy Mickelsen of Mesquite NV, and Lyle and Arlene Knott of Grand Island and many nieces and nephews. Arlene has been welcomed into heaven by her husband Alvin, parents Annie and Clarence Mickelsen, brothers Clarence Jr. and Howard Mickelsen, Sisters Doris Butler and Lillian Thompson.
